Phyllis Jean Clodfelter

Phyllis Jean Clodfelter, 81, of Roachdale passed away at her residence Saturday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2014.

She was born March 15, 1933 at Shipshewana, Ind., to George Dewey and Alma Kauffman Nelson.

She attended Goshen College, and then graduated from Purdue University as a registered dietitian.

She worked at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville for 15 years and then as a consultant at Ben Hur and Williamsburg Nursing Homes in Crawfordsville, Asbury Towers in Greencastle, Rockville Correctional Facility and Putnamville Correctional Facility for 17 years.

She also worked at various group homes and at Putnam County Hospital.

On Sept. 4, 1955 she married Gene Clodfelter at Shipshewana, and he survives.

Other survivors include four children, Jeanna (Alan) Anglin of Roachdale, Doug (Joyce) Clodfelter of Brazil, Rita (Jay) Smith of West Lafayette, and Chet (Leslie) Clodfelter,of Roachdale; 11 grandchildren Clint, Josie, Jed, Abe Anglin, Angela Satterfield, Holly Foster, Jeremy Staley, Kyle Wedemeyer, Luke Smith, Lance Clodfelter and Kayla Clodfelter, one great-grandchild, Jalen Satterfield; one sister, Carol Nelson; and nieces and nephews.

Her parents and a sister, Shirley Nelson Davis, preceded her in death.

Phyllis enjoyed cooking and being with her family, gardening, reading and attending plays. She was very involved with her church, and she her husband hosted Church Camp at Clodfelter's Pond for nearly 50 years.

She was also a member of the Home Economics Club in Russellville and Fincastle Canasta Club.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Russellville Community Church.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the church. Rev. Jim and Kathi Elliott will officiate and burial will be in Blakesburg Cemetery.
