Venice E. "Farmer" Morrison, 79, of Cloverdale, passed away Sept. 4, 2014.

Venice was born Feb. 28, 1935 in Martinsville, Ind., to the late Kenneth H. and Pauline E. (Alkire) Morrison.

He was a farmer, farming the homestead that he purchased from his great-grandfather.

Venice was known as "Farmer" to those he worked with at General Motors where he was a machinist for many years besides farming his farm.

Venice was a hardworking, honest man of principles that often said he had no time for liars or a thief in his life.

He loved to tend to his livestock that he raised on the farm and attend numerous farm auctions where he would often bring home yet another piece of machinery that he felt he could use on the farm, even if it wasn't operational at the time. His family stated that he was able to work on and fix most any type of machinery he put his mind to fix.

His wife stated he had a beautiful smile that captured her heart some 60 years ago. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, SuNell whom he married on July 25, 1954; his children, William Morrison, Christina Vanarsdale and Laurina Hughes; his grandchildren, Will and Lance Morrison, Brandi Freije, Crystal Vanarsdale, Alex and Jordan Hughes, Brandon Morrison and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kenzie Morrison, and both his parents.

To celebrate his life the family requests you join them for a time of remembrance on Monday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Greencastle Christian Church, 620 Primrose Lane, with visitation there from 4 p.m.

At Venice's request cremation will take place after the service.

Flanner and Buchanan-Decatur Township is honored to serve the Morrison family.
