Robert E. Buis

Robert E. Buis, 85, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014.

Bob was born on Feb. 3, 1929 in Hendricks County to Otho and Cleo Bailey Buis.

He was a 1949 graduate of Stilesville High School, and had been a job setter at Ford Motor Co., retiring with 30 years of service.

Bob was a past lieutenant governor of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1592 in Greencastle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jimmie D. Buis and Jonathan W. Buis; four brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Hazel R. Buis, whom he married on Aug. 6, 1949; a son, Bobbie L. Buis and wife Jackie; two daughters, Beth A. Wood and husband Chuck, and Dianna K. Love and friend Mike Hanlon; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Bob was an avid IU basketball fan and enjoyed watching Westerns. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He and Hazel toured Canada and the United States on their Honda Gold Wing.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 at Stilesville Cemetery with Pastor Jim McMahon officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Memorials in Bob's name may be shared with the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
