Russell 'Russ' Allen Gardner Sr.

Russell (Russ) Allen Gardner Sr., of Greencastle, passed peacefully at Parkwood Nursing Home in Lebanon, Ind., on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at the age of 79.

Russ was born on Sept. 12, 1935 in Greencastle to Edward and Thelma Gardner.

He graduated from Reelsville High School in 1953.

He retired to Lebanon, Ind., in 2007.

Russ is survived by wife Karen Gardner of Worthington; daughters Kelly Stevens of Bainbridge and Deborah Sheets of Lebanon; sons Russell (Russ) Gardner Jr. of Spencer, and Michael Gardner of Mount Joy, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and sister Mary-Lou and brother Bill Gardner.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Thelma Gardner, sisters Eloise Neijer and Thelma Jean Cox and brother Ed Gardner.

He was an avid Indiana University basketball and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
