Betty E. (Light) Bell, 83, of Brazil, passed away at the Exceptional Living Center of Brazil on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Clay County on April 22, 1931, the daughter of Elza and Ruth (Backfish) Light.

She married Herman W. Bell Jan. 24, 1948. Together they owned and operated many businesses including Paradise Lake, Brazil Antique Mall and Stuff and Things.

Betty loved traveling and watching Broadway plays. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano, organ and accordion. She had been a member of the Brazil Professional Women's Organizations, Beta Sigma Phi and currently is a member of the Jehovah's Witness Congregation and she enjoyed her Christian ministry.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially her sweetheart Herman.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elza and Ruth Light, brother Max Light and aunts and uncles Olive Backfish, Kenneth Backfish and Melvin Backfish.

Survivors include her children, Vickie Coburn and husband Gary of Greencastle, Rick Bell and wife Kathy of Brazil and Scott Bell and wife Glenda of Brazil; grandchildren Thomas Andrew Coburn and wife Rachael, Matt Coburn and wife Michelle, Timothy Coburn and wife Jessica, Rob Bell and wife Lisa, Jon Bell and wife Steph and Josh Bell and wife Jenny; great-grandchildren Allison Bell, Courtney Bell, Natalie Bell, Samuel Coburn, Noah Coburn and Coburn twins on the way, Gunner Hay and Kaleb Baker.

Services will be at French Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 with Rick Herron officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of services Friday
