Youth Philanthropy Night March 5 at Almost Home

Almost Home restaurant will host the Putnam County Community Foundation's Youth Philanthropy Night on Thursday, March 5.

Local students serving on the Putnam County Community Foundation's Youth Philanthropy Committee will assist servers that evening from 5-9 p.m..

All tips and donations will go toward building the Putnam County Youth Philanthropy Endowment.

In past years, the event has completely filled the restaurant, so reservations can be made by calling Almost Home at 653-5788.

For those unable to attend, donations to the Youth Philanthropy Endowment may be made online, by mail or in the Community Foundation offices at 2 S. Jackson St., Greencastle.

The 2014-15 Youth Philanthropy Committee members are Rebecca Moore, Megan Arnold, Taylor Secrest, Chloe Maginity, Ben Gellman, Katie Hewitt, Cora Neudeck, Madisyn Smith, Jenny Zehner, Mariah Huge, Trae Straziscar and Madison Trout.

Since its inception in 2006, the Putnam County Youth Philanthropy Committee has provided more than $25,000 in funding for more than 50 youth-led projects in Putnam County. The endowment provides some of the funding needed for the committee's grant-making activities.

Youth interested in serving on the committee or who are completing a service project and looking for funding can find forms are available for download at www.pcfoundation.org. Applications for committee membership are due March 25.

The Putnam County Community Foundation is a nonprofit public charity established in 1985 to serve donors, award grants and provide leadership, enriching the quality of life and strengthening community in Putnam County.

Grants awarded by the Youth Philanthropy Committee are made possible by the unrestricted Community Grants endowments administered by the Community Foundation. Lilly Endowment is currently matching donations to Community Grants Endowments $1 for $1.
