Cecil Donovan Stoner, 91, of Bainbridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

He was born Feb. 20, 1924 in Franklin Township of Putnam County to Cecil and Gracie Young Stoner.

Cecil attended Roachdale schools until 1938. He graduated from Springfield (La.) High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, where he was stationed in China with the 14th A.F. Flying Tigers.

Cecil flew 28 missions as a gunner in B-24 bombers. He received the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. His unit received a Presidential Citation.

Cecil was a 50-year member of the Bainbridge Masonic Lodge 75, and retired from Cinergy/PSI in 1988 with 36 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Norma Jean Vogel and Ruth Hutchison; and two brothers, Edward Allan Stoner and Morris S. Stoner.

Surviving are a niece, Sue Anne Moreland, of Indianapolis; and two nephews, Morris Coffman and wife Sally, of Greencastle, and Gary Coffman of Zephyr Hills, Fla.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at Bainbridge Cemetery. Chaplain Steve Williams will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from noon until 1 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
