Area 30 Career Center student TRISTAN LANGLEY was among a number of central Indiana high school students to receive recognition and cash prizes for their welding skills at the annual Midwest Technical Institute High School Welding Competition recently at the school's Brownsburg campus.

Langley placed in the top 10 in day one of the competition.

The two-day event featured more than 70 participants from seven area high schools and career centers.

REBECCA UPTON of Greencastle received a Master of Public Health from the the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University in Atlanta on Dec. 20, 2014.

Emory University is known for its demanding academics, outstanding undergraduate experience, highly ranked professional schools and state-of-the-art research facilities.
