Helen Rose Hargitt Ervin

Helen Rose Hargitt Ervin, 75, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

She was born in St Bernice, the daughter of Helen Virginia (Bain) Foxworthy and Joseph Hargitt. She graduated from Speedway High School in 1958.

Helen worked as an office clerk for several companies and retired from the Marion County Recorder's Office after 15 years.

As a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, her membership spanned many chapters, but her heart has been with the members of Cloverdale and Greencastle Chapters, serving several times as Worthy Matron.

She loved her family and friends. She shared a great sense of laughter, inspired so many during her medical recoveries and spread a joyful spirit through her life and into her last days. In her own words expressing, "Her get up and go, got up and went!"

Helen is survived by her rock of a husband, Edward Ervin. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage.

Helen's children: Dawn (Bob) Pruim, Ed (Linda) Ervin, Dan (Karen) Ervin and Erica (Mike) Leeds. Helen's grandchildren: Branden Marvel, Britni (Mike) Snyder, Matt (RicKeshia) Ervin, Paul Ervin, Kyle Ervin, David Ervin, Austin Leeds, Hunter Leeds and Alexis Leeds. Great-grandchild: Dallas Ervin.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 9 at Greencastle Masonic Lodge, 118 E. Washington St. from 1--4 p.m. There will be an OES Ceremony and short service beginning at 3 p.m.

As a long-time heart patient, Helen experienced the generosity of life through the gift of donated blood.
