Fred H. King, 85, Roachdale, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Prestwick Manor.

He was born on May 13, 1929 in Westville, Ill., to the late John and Mildred (Allison) King.

Fred was first married to Norma King. She preceded him in death. He was then married to Patricia (Shinn) King. They later divorced.

Fred proudly served our country during the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Star.

He served as town marshal in Ladoga for 13 years, as well as a Montgomery County deputy sheriff for two years.

Fred also enjoyed delivering food for Meals on Wheels throughout Putnam County for many years.

He owned and operated the restaurant in Ladoga as well as the pool hall.

He was a member of the Roachdale VFW and the Roachdale Optimist Club.

He is survived by his children, Frederick and Toni King; stepsons Michael (Sheila) Asher, Randy (Katrina) Asher, Craig Asher and Danny (Cindy) Asher, all of Roachdale; stepdaughters Janet Mason, Bainbridge, and Brenda (Mike) Rice, Interlachen, Fla.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren, and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5 at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Roachdale, with Pastor Shannon Ivers officiating.

Burial will follow with military honors provided by the United States Army and VFW Honor Guard at Roachdale Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, May 4 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
