Herman W. Bell, 88, of Brazil, passed away at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 with his family by his side.

He was born in Clay County, Sept. 11, 1926, the son of the late Ray and Catherine (Emmert) Bell.

He married Betty E. Light on Jan, 24, 1948. She preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2015. Together they owned and operated many businesses, including Paradise Lake, Brazil Antique Mall and Stuff and Things.

As a young man he was a farmer. He also managed Moore's retail in Brazil, sold real estate, operated a construction company and owned rental properties. Herman served his country with the United States Army during World War II.

Herman loved fishing, cooking, gardening, working and traveling with Betty. He took great pride in "recycling" merchandise and visiting with customers and friends.

He currently was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Congregation. Herman became a baptized member on Nov. 27, 1998.

He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and especially the love of his wife, Betty.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 67 years, Betty Bell; his parents; and brother John Ray Bell.

Herman is survived by his children, Vickie Coburn and husband Gary of Greencastle, Rick Bell and wife Kathy of Brazil and Scott Bell and wife Glenda of Brazil; grandchildren Thomas Andrew Coburn and wife Rachel, Matt Coburn and wife Michelle, Timothy Coburn and wife Jessica, Rob Bell and wife Lisa, Jon Bell and wife Steph and Josh Bell and wife Jenny; great-grandchildren Allison Bell, Courtney Bell, Natalie Bell, Samuel Coburn, Noah Coburn, Wyatt Coburn, Abby Coburn and an additional baby Coburn expected September, Gunner Hay and Kaleb Baker; siblings, Mildred Dierdorff of Noblesville, Bill Bell and wife Marty of Brazil, Ned Bell and wife Shirley of Florida, Mary Jane Timberman of Brazil, Warren Bell and wife Sandy of Brazil.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, June 15 at French Funeral Home, Brazil, with Rick Herron officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services.
