Russell E. Dreher, 77, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his daughter's home.

Russell was born on Oct. 8, 1937.

He was a customer engineer for IBM for 35 years, retiring in November 1992. He had been a marksman and radio operator in the U.S. Army for six years and served in Korea during this time. He was a member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

He loved to fish, be on the water, play cards, tinker with motors, fix cars, re-finish old furniture and mow the yard. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend.

In his own quiet way he was always there for his children and would do anything for them.

He graduated from Reelsville High School in 1956. He grew up in Reelsville and resided in Putnam County until 1973 when he relocated to Muncie for his job with IBM. He and his wife moved back to Greencastle in 2012.

He married Judith "Judy" C. Alexander on March 20, 1966 and she preceded him in death in February 2015.

Surviving are his three children, Pam (Pat) Foxx of Greencastle, Cindy (Mark) Copeland of Lafayette and Russ (Sherri) Dreher of Muncie; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Foxx, Joshua (Kelcie) Foxx, Katelyn Dreher, Kylie (Derek) Dreher, Kelsey (Seth) Dreher, Zachary Copeland and Sydney Copeland; and six great-grandchildren, Abigail and Ethan Louk, Hailee and Owen Foxx, Wyatt Bell and Elsie Foxx. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Ed) Lucas of Murphy, N.C. and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy O. and Martha (Tapy) Dreher and brother Donald Dreher.

A celebration of life with meal provided will be held on Saturday, July 11 at the American Legion (1401 Indianapolis Rd., Greencastle) from 4-7 p.m. with a short service at 6 p.m.
