Vine Street construction continues

Thursday, July 2, 2015
The streetscape project on South Vine Street in Greencastle continues as workmen from Schutt-Lookabill Co., Indianapolis, address utility work in the roadway north of Walnut Street Thursday morning. The project is expected to have periodic street closures throughout the Vine-Walnut-Poplar-Seminary street corridor. For example, East Walnut Street was temporarily closed east of the post office Wednesday afternoon but was open again Thursday as work moved to the north. Seminary Street, however, remained open to local traffic, while the access to the post office is still available via Walnut Street. The project is expected to be complete by Oct. 1.

  • I have a feeling I won't recognize Greencastle when I come for a visit. But, I imagine it will look pretty.

  • It may look nice but you really dont have any general shopping. A big thank you goes out to all taxpayers for supplying funds for this to happen. Is that not considered a main walkway from campus. Juat saying. Chiefs closed. Swiftly closed. Gas station by dairy castle closed. Humble pie closed. But we will look pretty

  • Really, we're worried that we have two less gas stations? Humble Pie was waaaaaay overpriced, so capitalism worked. The owner of Chief's got a job with a fraternity as a cook/chef. I would like to be a member of that fraternity, or at least a guest once a week! Dirtypolitics failed to mention things like Myers Market and Anthony's, which probably was a contributing factor to Humble Pie's demise. How many cities our size have a successful Starbucks? Obviously, dirtypolitics is a glass half-empty person, and probably someone with a political axe to grind, given his name.
