Robert E. 'Ernie' Boswell

Robert E. "Ernie" Boswell, 82, passed away on Aug. 20, 2015.

He was born on Aug. 23, 1932 in Greencastle to Clay D. Boswell and Theo Kendall Boswell.

Ernie was a graduate of Greencastle High School, and retired from Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis with 35 years of service.

He was a 50-year Mason, having served as Past Master of Bainbridge Masonic Lodge No. 75 F&AM. He became a member of Greencastle Masonic Lodge No. 47 F&AM, after the closing of the Bainbridge Lodge. Ernie served as Past Worthy Patron of Bainbridge Eastern Star Lodge, was a 32nd-degree Mason of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite, and was a member of the Murat Shrine of Indianapolis. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Greencastle Elks Lodge, and a member of the Clinton Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dona Joan Robinson; four grandsons, John and Wade Robinson, Billy and George Lanham; and stepson, Phil Mangus.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Karen Cruse Mangus, who he married at the Christian Church in Nicholasville, Ky.; three daughters, Susan K. Lanham of Bainbridge, Wanda J. Pugliese and husband Mike, of Bainbridge, and Linda C. Steele, of Greencastle; a son, Timothy J. Boswell and wife Susan of Georgetown, Texas; a stepdaughter, Theresa Sandberg and husband Mike, of Mooresville; three stepsons, Paul Mangus and wife Nicole, of Greencastle, Matthew Mangus, of Reelsville, and Brian Mangus, of Florida; brother-in-law, Doyne Cruse, of Rockville; sister-in-law, Kay Abbott and husband Jim, of Terre Haute; 28 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Danny Caulkins. Interment will follow at Clinton Falls Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
