Betty Lou Wendling

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

The world lost a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and baker of pies, as feisty Betty Lou Wendling (Suiter) of Roachdale passed away in her home on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 at the age of 86.

Born March 15, 1929 to Edna and Hubert "Hub" Suiter, Betty Lou lived her entire life in Roachdale, gracing the town with her warmth, sass and, of course, her delicious pies.

She was preceded in death by her loving and equally as feisty husband, Rex Wendling.

Betty Lou was a 1946 graduate of Roachdale High School and worked as "your friendly Avon lady" for 52 years.

Betty Lou was a matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Roachdale Christian Church.

Never one to shy away from a garage sale, Betty Lou loved hunting for bargains, dancing to big band music, and hosting family gatherings.

Betty Lou is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Drew and Dee Wendling of Roachdale and Hal and Donna Wendling of Normal, Ill., and three grandchildren, Lauren, Kacy and Alex.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 20 from 4-8 p.m. at Roachdale Christian Church, 1 N. Walnut St, Roachdale.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at Roachdale Christian Church with Pastor Braden Etcheson officiating. Burial will follow at Roachdale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Betty's memory may be made to Roachdale Christian Church.
