DANVILLE -- The Greencastle boys' basketball team had a tough time rebounding against Danville Saturday night and couldn't get an offensive game rolling until the second half in a 68-40 loss to the Warriors.

"Danville's a very good team. They are rated seventh in the state right now," GHS coach Troy Greenlee said. "They are very long and athletic. I told our guys going into the game that we had to compete every possession. I thought we saw that from that from some guys and some guys really struggled with that."

The Tiger Cubs went down 9-0 early but managed to get the game close after a 7-0 run in which GHS was able to get some defensive stops.

However rebounding became an issue for the shorter Tiger Cubs and GHS fell to a 19-9 deficit after one.

Ryan Coble was the focal point of the GHS offense and Danville began to key on the senior defensively in order to make it hard for the Tiger Cubs to get the offense rolling.

"We're still trying to figure some things out," Greenlee said. "Who can take some pressure off our scorers and help them in the scoring column. Also rebounding hurt us tonight. It's one of those deals where we just have to get better. It's a tough team to play for the second game of the season."

Coble scored nine of the 13 Greencastle points in the second, all of the team's 10 in the third and five of the 10 points in the fourth.

According to Greenlee it'll take repetition in practices in order to spread around the scoring for the Tiger Cubs. Coble also had 11 rebounds and five assists.

"We have to figure out ways to get them in position to score," Greenlee said. "I don't think there is any magic formula to it. It's just a matter of having those guys step up. A game like this lets you see where your weaknesses are and we need to make sure we work on those."

The Tiger Cubs will get four days this week before a back-to-back weekend at West Vigo Friday and then county rival North Putnam Saturday.

"I thought our guys competed for the most part and we've got to get better in every game," Greenlee said.
