Eugene Earl Butts Sr., 88, Staunton, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016.

He was born Dec. 22, 1927 in Clay County, the son of John Ray Butt and Goldie Winn Butt.

He graduated from Staunton High School and last worked in maintenance at the Clay County Health Center.

On June 10, 1950 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Parrish Butts and she survives.

He served as president of the Brazil Eagles Lodge for more than 20 years. He was known in the Staunton area fur riding his three-wheel bicycle and he always enjoyed visiting with folks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Everett Butt and sister Margaret Meyers; two sons, "Butch" Eugene Butts Jr. and Mike Butts; and great-grandson Kaleb Standley Borders.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Becky Butts; their children, Patty Standley and husband Ron of Brazil and Karen Dean of Staunton; grandchildren John Crafton Jr., Sandy Crafton Clark (John), Clyde Dean Jr. (Nikki), Phillip Butts (Allison), Chevy Ray Butts (Jennifer) and Ronni Standley (Thomas Borders); great-grandchildren, Chevelle Butts, Chevy Butts Jr., Kyle Crafton, Kaitlyn Crafton, Karson Butts, Keaton Butts, Leah Borders, Jazzy Borders and "Chloe"; brothers and sisters Phillip Butt (Nancy), Don Butt (Mary), Elsie Wheat, George Butt, Barbara Burk (Gary), Judy Rice (Bill) and John Butt; daughter-in-law Toni Bullock; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

At his request cremation was chosen and there will be no service at this time. Burial will follow at a later date at Rhule Cemetery. Post a note of condolence at www.frenchfuneralhome.com.
