Parke County REMC sponsors D.C. trip

Friday, February 5, 2016

The Parke County REMC will sponsor three students on the annual Indiana Electric Cooperative Youth Tour June 9-16 in Washington, D.C.

Students entering their senior year in 2016 will be selected by their local cooperative to participate in the week-long trip. Students will meet more than 1,600 students from up to 46 states and visit the Gettysburg battlefield; Arlington National Cemetery; the Smithsonian Museums; Jefferson, Martin Luther King Jr. and Franklin D. Roosevelt memorials; and take a night cruise on the Potomac River.

Students will also participate in a youth rally hosted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association to share thoughts and opinions on a variety of issues. The rally will prepare students for a day on Capitol Hill, where they will have the opportunity to meet with Indiana's congressional delegation.

Applications are due Friday, Feb. 12 and are available by contacting Carolyn Kilby at 765-569-3133 or ckilby@pcremc.com.
