PCYDC reveals 2016 Dancing Stars

An anticipated local tradition is back for its eighth-annual installment with the announcement of the 2016 Dancing with the Putnam County Stars contestants on Saturday morning at Greencastle City Hall.

Twelve local stars have pledged their time to learn their dances as well as their talents to raise money for the Putnam County Youth Development Commission and its largest and most visible annual fundraiser.

The eighth annual event is set to take place on Saturday, April 23, with a dress rehearsal on Thursday, April 21.

This year's dancing stars will include DePauw University baseball coach Jake Martin, Putnam County Community Corrections Director Jamie France, Endeavor Communications HR Director Liz Cheatham, Legan Livestock and Grain co-owner Phyllis Legan, Mill Pond Health Campus Director of Marketing Brooke Trissel, Greencastle boys' basketball coach and middle school teacher Troy Greenlee, Tony Detro of Detro Trailers, Buzzi Unicem biochemist Don Owen, Linda Hunter of Transformers, All-American Karate Academy co-owner Niki St. Pierre; CASA volunteer coordinator Allison Creekmore and North Putnam varsity wrestling coach and middle school teacher Bucky Kramer.

Besides featuring a new group of dancers, the 2016 event will also have a change of venue, as the fundraiser moves to the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

The evening will begin in the goat barn for social hour and dinner before moving to the inside arena for the dancing.

Ticketing information will be released at a later date, as tickets go on sale to the public on Feb. 29.

One detail revealed on Saturday is that premium table purchases will include dinner and a nearby table for the dancing portion of the evening. Those with non-premium tickets will view from the bleachers.

Judges for the event will be local attorneys Eddie Felling and Mike Goss reprising the rolls in which they served last year, with fellow attorney Karen Temple likely to return, although she has not yet confirmed.

The 2016 celebrity judge will be recently-retired Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray.

As in year's past, the Thursday-evening dress rehearsal will be a chance for families come to the event without the higher ticket prices or the late night. Entry fees for the dress rehearsal will be non-perishable goods for local food pantries.
