Bennie J. 'Ben' Bonney

Bennie J. "Ben" Bonney, 91, of Greencastle, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016.

Ben was born, Dec. 21, 1924 in Greene County to the late Benjamin and Georgia Bonney.

He was a 1943 graduate of University High School in Bloomington, and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked for many years as a machinist for Link Belt.

Ben attended the First Baptist Church in Greencastle, and was a lifetime member of the Greencastle American Legion and VFW.

He enjoyed collecting classic cars and was a member of the Veteran Motor Car Club of America.

He is survived by his son, Stephen R. Bonney; sister Mildred Clark; brother Paul (Louise) Bonney; grandson Adam Bonney; and great-grandchildren, Agnes and Gabriel Bonney.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary June Bonney; daughter, Barbara J. Hathaway, and grandson, Allen Bonney.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, April 29 in Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, where friends and family will gather from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Interment with military honors will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
