Tree giveaway set for First Friday, Farmers' Market

Trees from the Indiana State Nursery will be given away on Friday, May 5 at the May First Friday event in downtown Greencastle.

Saturday, May 6 trees will be given away at the Farmers' Market.

Putnam County Families in Nature will help hand out the trees. The trees are sponsored by Buzzi Unicem.

On Friday they will have persimmon trees, pawpaw trees and tulip trees. As long as the trees last anyone can get five free trees.

On Saturday during the Greencastle Farmers' Market in downtown Greencastle anyone can receive 10 free trees. Saturday the trees will include persimmon, pawpaw, white pine, red oak, black gum, white oak, flowering dogwood and buttonbush.

The Farmers' Market opens at 9 and runs until noon. If trees are left over the remaining trees will be available at succeeding Farmers' Markets.
