'Not-Another-Lemonade-Stand' pop-up shop to showcase kid entrepreneurs

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

The old standby for kids raising money, the lemonade stand, gets an upgrade Saturday, May 7 as Myers' 5 East location plays host to five kid entrepreneurs at the "Not-Another-Lemonade-Stand" Pop Up Shop.

Goods offered by the kid vendors will include handmade, homemade and vintage items.

Fifteen-year-old Lauren Harper, who will sell repurposed and upcycled items, is participating in the pop-up shop in hopes of raising money to help fund her other business/passion, raising rabbits.

In addition, four Greencastle sixth-graders will offer items in their booths: Camp Kaiser, Sew Cool and From the Barnyard.

Camp Kaiser, run by Ben Huff, offers vintage camp items, and rustic games for the collector or avid camper.

Evan Harris will offer hand-sewn items, homemade dog treats and other creative handmades in his "Sew Cool" booth. Both Huff and Harris will use all proceeds from the sale of their items to help fund their trip to the 2017 Boy Scout National Jamboree at Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.

Dale and Ella Thomas round out the group of sixth-grade entrepreneurs with their creations From the Barnyard. The Thomas twins are experienced crafters, who will offer bags, pillows and jewelry made from feed bags, as well as homemade baked goods.

The fifth and final vendor is Chloe Watkins, with Chloe's Creations. Chloe, a student at Dance Workshop, has qualified to attend the Starbound Dance Competition nationals in Chicago. She will be selling crocheted hats and other craft items to raise money to fully fund her trip.

The Not-Another-Lemonade-Stand Pop Up Shop will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at Myers 5 East (5 E. Franklin St., Greencastle).
