Phyllis Jean Asher

Phyllis Jean Asher, 86, of Greencastle, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at The Waters of Greencastle.

She was born Nov. 27, 1929 in Frankfort, Ind., to the late Ottis and Helen (Johnson) Wingate.

Phyllis graduated from Thorntown High School with the class of 1947.

On Nov. 30, 1947 she married Clinton S. Asher. Clinton passed away Feb. 6, 2008.

Phyllis was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was a 50-year member of Fincastle Community Church, the Canasta Club, and a longtime member of Russellville Community Church.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Roberta) Asher, Indianapolis, Shirley (Rick) Rose, Bellmore, Fred (Miriam) Asher, Hollandsburg, and Sandra Belcher and Melvin Owens, Rockville; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sue Ann Thomas, Rockville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17 at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale, with Pastor Rick Fay officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Poland.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at the funeral home.
