Reba Mae Porter

Reba Mae Porter, 86, formerly of Greencastle, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 after a brief illness.

Mrs. Porter was born Dec. 28, 1929 in Belle Union to the late Roy and Dana Wheeler.

She was a 1947 graduate of Belle Union High School.

Reba wed Roy O. Porter on Feb. 19, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2000.

She was a member of Fillmore United Methodist Church and was a homemaker to her family.

Reba loved to crochet and leaves an especially large collection of afghans for her family to enjoy.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Gwen Carter and Jeannine (John) Bordini; sister Virginia Williams; grandchildren Joshua Bordini, Christina Bordini, Jeremy Bordini, Daryl (Theresa) Carter, Christopher (Andrea) Carter and Kelly Carter; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jim Carter; sister Mingle Vaughn and brother Kimball Wheeler.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 24 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, where friends and family will gather from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral.

Following the funeral she will be laid to rest next to her husband in Stilesville Cemetery.
