Two bands to play until 11 p.m. for First Friday

First Friday on July 1 will mean an extra dose of outside entertainment as two musical acts will perform on the Franklin Street stage until 11 p.m.

Singer Mike Balka will perform first, followed by that First Friday staple, War Radio, which generally performs inside the Swizzle Stick each month.

Everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs and join Figgy Hardwick, beginning at 6 p.m. on the squareTwo bands to play until 11 p.m. for First Friday

First Friday on July 1 will mean an extra dose of outside entertainment as two musical acts will perform on the Franklin Street stage until 11 p.m.

Singer Mike Balka will perform first, followed by that First Friday staple, War Radio, which generally performs inside the Swizzle Stick each month.

Everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs and join Figgy Hardwick, beginning at 6 p.m. on the square to enjoy a beautiful evening of fun and entertainment with friends and family. Music on the outside stage will begin at 7 p.m. and run until 11.

Other First Friday participants this time include:

Almost Home/Swizzle Stick -- Grilling out food and offering an outdoor beer garden featuring Blue Chair Bay buckets and craft beer.

Myers' Market -- Myers and Hog-N-It-All will offer pulled pork, ribs, barbecue chicken and sides and other items at 5 East (Franklin Street) beginning at 6 p.m. until it's gone.

Wasser Brewing -- Will be offering pints of Hefeweizen, English Pale Ale, Super 8, and the just kegged Belgian Stout alongside Myer's Market's pork dishes. Wasser will also be welcoming people into its building for tours and growlers.

The Inn at DePauw -- Get a taste of the south on the Vine Street patio, Inn will be serving up a Carolina low country shrimp boil and barbecue ribs until they run out. The new pergola features fans to keep those enjoying their dinner cool.

Boulder Run Bar and Grill -- Will offer a First Friday after-party on its new patio (lower level of 16 S. Jackson St.) with food and drinks special until 1 a.m.

The Game Warehouse -- Open house from 5-9 p.m. with free cookies and drinks and an invitation to check out the best games in town at 8 W. Washington St.

Putnam County Hospital, Mill Pond and The Waters -- Partnering for Shortcakes on the Square fundraiser with strawberry shortcakes available for $5. Make an additional donation to Dunk the Deputy (dunk tank). All proceeds will go to the Red Cross.

Greencastle Chamber of Commerce -- Burdge Boots will be the featured merchant of the month as Jason and Shannon Burdge will highlight their Western store merchandise in the Chamber booth.

Conspire: Contemporary Craft -- Will be on the square with a collection of unique handmade art from around the Midwest. Also, pick up a sample of Teehaus soaps, or visit the shop 14 S. Indiana St.

Cricket's Unique Boutique -- Specials on red, white and blue styles for the fireworks. Those in the military who protect our freedom will receive an extra "grab bag of savings" all weekend long.

Southern Whimsy Boutique -- A new clothing boutique committed to providing clothing that allows women "to live with style and grace." To see some of the clothing go to the Southern Whimsy Boutique Facebook page.

Bear Threads -- Offering boutique clothing, handcrafted accessories and must-haves for all ages.

Melissa Turner Photography -- Specializing in on-site, natural light, family photos. All candid photos taken at First Friday events will be available for purchase. on her website, www.melissaturnerphotography.blogspot.com.

Main Street Greencastle -- Will be selling the 1924 Greencastle aerial shot posters for $10 and will have local historic postcards available for $1 each.
