Martha Jane McPherson, 83, of Reelsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 while staying at Cloverleaf Nursing Home.

She was born on Nov. 27, 1932, in Reelsville, the daughter of Harvey and Gertrude (Chew) Aker.

She graduated from Reelsville High School and later Indiana State University with a master's in education.

She taught elementary education in the Clay Community School system for 41 years.

She was a member of the Reelsville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 60 years.

She enjoyed reading, especially reading the Bible, singing and attending her son John's activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rev. Roscoe McPherson, and two brothers: Richard Aker and William Aker.

Mrs. McPherson is survived by her sons, Andrew Hudson and wife Jaime of Lumberton, Texas, and John McPherson of Reelsville; two grandchildren, Mackenzie Hudson and Cole Hudson; a sister, Betty McCullough of Knightsville;a and a brother Jack Aker of Logansport; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Services will be conducted at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 with Pastors: William Best, Olin Strader and Steven Blaydes Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until time of services.
