Cloverdale Agri Center catches fire

At 6:27 p.m. Thursday, the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the Cloverdale Agri Center, located at 303 W. Robert Weist Rd., for a fire in its main dryer.

Cloverdale Fire Chief Kerry Shepherd said the blaze was caused by corn catching fire as it was being dried.

The fire was contained in about an hour and reported losses of nearly $75,000 to the dryer and the loss of corn.

Assisting at the scene were the Greencastle Fire Department, Cataract Volunteer Fire Department, Operation Life and the Cloverdale Police Department.
