Giving Back

Sunday, November 23, 2014

As a thank you for helping during the most recent racing season, Madison Township residents Bret Hurley (third from left) and David Rowings (second from right) recently donate $1,500 to the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department. The department will put the donation toward the $2,200 match needed to obtain the $10,000 grant it was awarded back in June from the Putnam County Community Foundation for the purchase of new self-contained breathing apparatuses. The Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department covered three races this summer on both Hurley and Rowings' properties free of charge. However, both men felt the need to give back to the department. Present for the donation were Jesse Cavaness, Donny Barger, Lead Captain Jeff Tincher, Chief Lee Price and Joe Biggs. Those wishing to help the department reach its match may donate by mail to Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 125, Greencastle, IN 46135.
