First of two City Candidate Forums set for Wednesday

The first of two scheduled Candidates Forums in advance of the upcoming Greencastle city election is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Sponsored by the Greencastle League of Women Voters, WGRE radio and the Banner-Graphic, the debate will commence at 7 p.m. in Watson Forum of the Center for Contemporary Media (corner of Locust and Elm streets) on the DePauw University campus.

The first forum will feature candidates running for the Greencastle City Council seats in Wards 1-4.

Wednesday's event will include debates between the following candidates: Danny Mesecher (R) and incumbent Adam Cohen (D), First Ward; Stacie Langdon (R) and Brian Cox (D), Second Ward; Harold Barger (R) and Steve Fields (D), Third Ward; and incumbent Tyler Wade (R) and Tanis Monday (D), Fourth Ward.

The second forum program, to be staged Wednesday, Oct. 28, will feature the candidates running for Greencastle mayor, city clerk-treasurer and the three City Council at-large seats. It will also begin at 7 p.m. in Watson Forum.

Debating at the Oct. 28 event will be: Haywood Ware (R) and William Dory (D), candidates for mayor; incumbent Lynda Dunbar (R) and Eric Wolfe (D), candidates for clerk-treasurer; incumbent Mark Hammer (R), Wally Hinkle (R), Harry Maginity (R), Gary Lemon (D) and Dave Murray (D), candidates for the three at-large City Council positions.

The forum will be broadcast live on WGRE radio and over Greencastle's local cable access Channel 3.

Audience members will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates at the conclusion of each forum.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
